bullet pointTV's Dick and Dom get sweaty for Sport Relief
TV presenters Dick and Dom considered themselves to be pretty fit – that was until they took on young people from Notts at a health and fitness boot camp. The presenters visited the Monty Hind Training Centre in Lenton yesterday to promote the BBC\'s Sport Relief appeal. They took part in a number of activities, including weightlifting and a penalty shoot out. They\'re also urging people to join them at the Victoria Embankment for this year\'s Sport Relief Mile, on Sunday, March 21. \"It was hardcore training and they were beating us hands down,\" said Dom, as he and Dick made smoothies using a bicycle adapted to power a blender. \"We\'ve been put through our paces. The boys and girls have been wiping the floor with us. They have been saving our penalties. We haven\'t done that much physical activity since we were at school.\" \"We are training for the London Marathon as well,\" added Dick. \"We thought we had got our fitness up, but we need to do a bit more.\" Sophie Corbett, 15, from Netherfield, and Deanna Perkins, 13, from The Meadows, were among those taking part in the boot camp with Dick and Dom. Sophie has been coming to the Monty Hind Training Centre for more than three years. \"It\'s fun and active and it\'s fun to do instead of staying in your house bored all the time,\" said Sophie. Deanna added: \"I like meeting new people and doing other things that I don\'t usually do around The Meadows.\" The boot camp is organised by Nottinghamshire Clubs For Young People (Notts CYP), which provides activities and events for young people in Notts who are part of 42 different affiliated clubs. Those who were helped by Notts CYP when they were younger include Nottingham Forest player Wes Morgan, and Nottingham\'s WBC super-middleweight champion boxer Carl Froch. More famous names are soon expected to announce they will be taking part in the Sport Relief Mile with Dick and Dom, whose real names are Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood. Depending on their fitness levels, runners can choose a challenge to suit them – either one mile, three miles or six miles. Sport Relief has teamed up with the Nottingham Evening Post to divide £62,500 between community groups in the city, with grants of up to £1,000 available.
